NW Dance: Strutting in the Savoy – a Ballroomin’ Blues Workshop
With instructors Lila Faria and Dillon Arevalo.
In Lila and Dillon’s second lesson, they will be building off of their earlier Jukin’ class. Here, they will introduce the second main category of Blues dancing: Ballroomin’. This umbrella term gets its name from ballrooms like the Savoy in Harlem (NY), where the styles were developed and danced. Lila and Dillon will be focusing on common footwork and connections, as well as exploring how to create and execute interesting traveling patterns in your dance. Dancers will leave with a solid understanding of fundamental distinctions between Jukin’ and Ballroomin’ Blues, along with moves that explore different connection points and body orientations.
Pre-requisites: Instructor permission or attendance at workshop 1 (Rockin’ in a Juke Joint – a Jukin’ Blues).Pricing
