In many ways, Blues dancing is built on contrast. In this class, we explore dynamic range as a core tool for musical expression, grounded in the Blues principle of Ephebism: Dancing with youthful vitality, energy, and spirit. Rather than assuming “big” automatically means “better,” we’ll examine how intentional choices across the spectrum – from quiet, contained movement to expansive, bold expression – can showcase musical understanding and deepen partnered connection. Through guided drills, you’ll practice expanding your expressive control, and explore how dynamics can shift both within partnership and in conversation with the music.
